Celebrating International Women's Day
Today is International Women’s Day – the campaign theme this year being #EachforEqual.
Women are truly amazing - and when young women are given access to a safe education, an equal voice and opportunity in the workplace, and when they are supported to rise to their full potential, everyone around them benefits.
For 18 years now, Pashom has been working closely with many amazing and inspiring women in Nepal, and together as a team, we design and create beautiful products that are made entirely by hand from all natural materials, and which are sold through our retail partners and online stores all over the world.
We provide skills training for women who do not have previous knowledge in the art of felting, and to date have over 40 women working full time in our workshop in Kathmandu. We are thrilled to have recently established a second workshop in a village just outside the city where we have 14 women currently in training with our senior artisans.
This year one of our goals is to expand our financial sponsorship program focusing on girls education in Nepal, and will be involving our entire team in contributing to this cause. It is a beautiful feeling to give back and to know that your hard work and success is giving others access to equal opportunities. As Audrey Hepburn so beautifully said - “As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands, one for helping yourself, the other for helping others”.
As Pashom grows older, this takes on more and more importance for us, and as our ethos is all about Handmade, it feels particularly meaningful.
So today, on this International Women’s Day, we would like to acknowledge and share with you some of the amazing women who make up Pashom – women whose passion and dedication to their work and to our collective vision, inspires us every day. It is truly a blessing and privilege to work with these incredible women.
